Foursquare is a Superhero for Small Business

If you haven’t heard about Foursquare yet, it is definitely time to learn the application all of your customers are now using!  As a small business owner (SBO) you have most likely created a profile for your company on Yelp and received benefits from the customer reviews and traffic from their site to yours.  Foursquare is similar but it allows your customers to check into your business via their mobile device using GPS and leave tips and to-dos about your business to their friends.

The element that is creating fast growing popularity with our customers is the gaming factor.  Each time a customer checks in at your business they receive points and the customer that checks in at your business the most that week then is coined the “mayor” of your business.  Each week on Sunday night the points are cleared so that anyone, including new users, can become the mayor of your business.

In addition, you can register specials with Foursquare so that when customers check into your business or one near yours a message pops up sharing “Specials Nearby” and your promotion is delivered to the user.  This is an excellent way for SBO’s to utilize the mobile space to promote their business considering Foursquare is encouraging people to explore their neighborhoods and rewarding them for doing so.
