<p>Facebook changes their site often and can move certain features around making it rather confusing to find direction in customizing pages but we have a simple 5 step set up just for you.</p>
<p>Step 1: Go to the &#8216;Ads and Pages&#8217; link on the left of your &#8216;News Feed&#8217; page that takes you to your fan page.</p>
<p>Step 2: Click on the &#8216;Marketing&#8217; link here on the left of this edit page.</p>
<p>Step 3: Click on the &#8216;Create Alias&#8217; link</p>
<p>Step 4: Select one of the suggested user names or check the availability of the one you would like to have.</p>
<p>Step 5: Confirm this is the Facebook Fan Page URL that you would like for your business.  NOTE: You can only change this once so be sure this is indeed the personalized Facebook URL that you want.</p>
<p>Alternatively, once you are logged into your business Facebook account, you can also just go to <a href="http://www.facebook.com/username/" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/username/</a> and select your page name from the drop down menu then hit “check availablity” to see if your name is available and secure it.</p>
<p>Having a customized Facebook Fan Page URL can be just as important as  having your business website domain.  Always be sure to secure social  media sites such as Facebook and Twitter with your company names so they  read www.facebook.com/mybusiness and @mybusiness as soon as you can.   Some Twitter handles have sold upward of $10,000 and can be crucial to  securing your brand as you grow online so go get yours today!</p>

<p>This year marked the <strong>6th Annual Pink Party</strong>, co-hosted with A-Dorable Jennifer Garner and filled with other celebs all dolled up and pretty in pink.</p>
<p>Some of the brightest stars including Nikki Reed of Twilight, Julie Benz of Dexter, Gossip Girl Michelle Trachtenberg, Desperate Housewife Marcia Cross, Denise Richards and  Brooke Burke with hotty McBody husband David Charvet.</p>
<p>I attended and tweeted the event from the paparazi filled pink carpet to the amazing fashion show on a stage built over the roof top pool at Drai’s at the W Hollywood. The designers in the show included Fall fashions from the Olsen twin&#8217;s collection <a href="http://www.elysewalker.com/store/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=13" target="_blank" class="broken_link">Elizabeth and James</a> (love), <a href="http://www.elysewalker.com/store/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=40" target="_blank" class="broken_link">Haute Hippie</a> (love), <a href="http://www.elysewalker.com/" target="_blank">Bluemarine</a> (love, love). They even had a special <a href="http://www.elysewalker.com/store/product.php?productid=18735&amp;manufacturerid=102" target="_blank" class="broken_link">Pink Party shoe designed by Yves Saint Laurent </a>just for the occasion.</p>

<p>Elyse and Jen could not be any cuter as they made cracks about the many, often cruel fashion comments made of Jennifer by celeb smut mags and how Elyse still seems to persist after many years of shopping in her Pacific Palisades store to buy cool digs and &#8220;just try it on!&#8221;.</p>
<p>I found it particularly heart warming to meet cancer survivors and Dr. Beth Y. Karlan the Director of Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Research Institute.  It wasn&#8217;t just the pink bubbles in my champagne glass making my eyes water but the love you could feel in the air as doctors and patients hugged and looked at each other with warm smiles of victory.</p>
<p>The whole night was just perfect.  Warm LA night, roof top of a fab place, amazing fashion on and off the runway and amazing people.  It&#8217;s clear why Elyse has raised nearly 4 million dollars for gynecologic and breast cancer not only from her ability to be the hostess with the mostess but also from the passion in her heart after loosing her mother to ovarian cancer at the young age of 42.</p>
<p>Parties and people really don&#8217;t get much better then this ladies. Way to go girls, you really did a remarkable job and the MMM team is so proud to have you as our client and serve you on your quest to raise moe money for research in any way we can.  Be sure to get your ticket next year for the hottest, sweetest and pinkest party in town and all for a great cause!</p>

<p>Here are three key reasons why a business blog can make a major difference in your web presence AND you just might have a little fun in the process.</p>
<p><strong>1. </strong><strong>SEO Savvy</strong>- When you have a blog on your company website that provides new content to the site, you are giving search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing robot food that makes them hungry to come back to your site over and over again.<span id="more-190"></span></p>
<p>This is good because you want to give them as much relevant content and keywords to index for your site as you can to gain higher rankings in search. Blogs alone can increase your site traffic up to 40% because you have those Google bots coming back working to put all the information and keywords in your post into their database and the more you give them the more you come up in Google.</p>
<p><strong>2. </strong><strong>Expertise</strong>- Websites are very two demensional.  Visitors to your site can&#8217;t always see how awesome your product or service is on a &#8220;Home&#8221; or  &#8221;About&#8221; page.  So what makes your skin care line better then Suzy Q&#8217;s whose website also comes up on the first page of Google?  Well, your visitors can see in your blog you just returned from Paris for a niche training in your field and very few skin care companies in the US are offering these philosophies and ingredient combinations. Now, what you already do but just don&#8217;t share with the world is showcased and communicating virtually &#8220;Hey, I know my stuff and I&#8217;m pretty unique and cool&#8221; in a good way :)</p>
<p>Suddenly your training trip just gave you extra street cred, you just simply needed to share it. AND, all the people Googling this Paris training will see your business was there to represent because the search bots will record this blog post with those keywords!  All starting to make sense now!?</p>
<p><strong>3. Personalit</strong>y- Beyond expertise, education, certification and all the things on paper you accomplished to build the business you have, who are you?  When your tribe of people come to your site and see you have the product and the credentials can they also see that you&#8217;ve got flavor?  Your business is an extention of you and your website and business blog are an extention of that so share with us your special sauce!</p>
<p>Each business is wonderful for all the little things that came about to create it.  Share the story.  Are you inspired to create a new product because you just did a marathon after the birth of your baby and saw a need? Did you come from a web developers conference and are so pumped to use some new technologies for your clients?  People bond to the nitty gritty of you, your staff and your business now more then ever. We are tired of being sold and spoon fed things to buy, we want to relate and connect with people.  Give your website visitors a lil&#8217; bit of what&#8217;s new with the company, client stories, fun ways people are using your products and let&#8217;s hear it already!</p>
<p>We understand implementing new practices seems like a lot of work at first.  In fact, I am a classic case of the business owner that helps everyone else get blogging and doesn&#8217;t find the time to blog for my own business.  It&#8217;s like the hairstylist that does the most amazing cuts and color for all that sit in her chair yet her hair is always in a bun because she&#8217;s too busy doing hair for everyone else!</p>
<p>But the significant difference a blog can make is well worth the effort and it is a great way to drive more traffic to your website, build your business branding and community among your tribe.  As one of our MMM clients Dr. Julia Getzelman, an exceptional pediatrician and founder of <a href="http://getzwell.com/" target="_blank">GetzWell Pediatrics</a> who has seen the shift in activity on her site from blogging has eloquently put it, &#8220;It&#8217;s like using a new muscle, and the more you work that muscle the easier it is and the more results you see&#8221;.</p>
<p>And when the results are more visitors to your site that find you via your business blog articles on topics they are already searching for, like and respond to you begin to feel the love and have some fun.  I can just hear Sally Field in the background with her Oscar Award speach saying &#8220;They like me, they really like me&#8221;!</p>

<p>This also helped me with &#8216;fempreneur ADD&#8217;, creating too many things at once, and made it easy to just say no to anything that did not contribute to the ultimate result of  helping women overcome their fear of tech and build strong businesses online.</p>

<p><strong>Build a Virtual Team</strong>- If you get stuck with techy stuff you can hire a one time or part time web technician on <a href="http://www.elance.com/" target="_blank">Elance</a> to help you whenever you want to pound your computer.  These sites will also save you whenever you need a writer, designer, assistant and many other random tasks that keep you from doing the best of your business.</p>

<p>The element that is creating fast growing popularity with our customers is the gaming factor.  Each time a customer checks in at your business they receive points and the customer that checks in at your business the most that week then is coined the &#8220;mayor&#8221; of your business.  Each week on Sunday night the points are cleared so that anyone, including new users, can become the mayor of your business.</p>
<p>In addition, you can register specials with Foursquare so that when customers check into your business or one near yours a message pops up sharing &#8220;Specials Nearby&#8221; and your promotion is delivered to the user.  This is an excellent way for SBO&#8217;s to utilize the mobile space to promote their business considering Foursquare is encouraging people to explore their neighborhoods and rewarding them for doing so.</p>
<p>So how do you take advantage of this fun application that your customers are already using?<span id="more-37"></span></p>
<p>1.) Sign up on the Foursquare site or download the application on your mobile device.  Foursquare is available for the<a href="http://foursquare.com/"> iPhone,</a> <a href="http://foursquare.com/devices/blackberry" target="_blank">Blackberry</a>, <a href="http://foursquare.com/devices/android" target="_blank">Android</a>, <a href="http://foursquare.com/devices/palm" target="_blank">Palm</a> and more.</p>
<p>2.) Read the how-to <a href="http://techtarts.com/techtarts-tartorial-on-the-highly-addictive-app-foursquare/" target="_blank">&#8220;tartorial&#8221; on how Foursquare work</a>s at <a href="http://techtarts.com/" target="_blank">www.techtarts.com</a>.</p>
<p>3.) Watch for customers that promote you and earn mayorship for frequenting your business.  Offer them a special or free item as a thank you for their patronage.</p>
<p>4.) Put a sign of your own up at the cash wrap, on a sandwich board, blog, newsletter, social sites or your own website letting customers know if the are the Mayor of your business this week, they can receive a deal such as 20% off, a free small item or whatever you would like to promote.</p>
<p>5.) Add a Foursquare special to your venue.  You can do so and see more venues offering &#8220;mayor specials&#8221; on the <a href="http://foursquare.com/businesses/" target="_blank">businesses page on the Foursquare website</a></p>
